As part of the mission of the Legal & Regulatory Affairs Team to bring more legal advice and expertise in-house, we have introduced legal partnering as part of our service where a named lawyer will be a key point of contact for certain areas and Divisions of Imperial, including each of our Faculties.
This does not necessarily mean that the lawyer would carry out all of the legal work arising from such area, rather that they would act as a point of contact. The query would then be routed to the most appropriate lawyer, whether this be another in-house lawyer or an external firm. The named lawyer would support the engagement of any external provider that might be required for a particular project.
This approach helps us to plan work and monitor resources, especially if the named lawyer can be involved in business planning/horizon scanning. We can more effectively allocate resources, where needed, if we know a particular project or matter is planned.
Members of area and faculties may also request legal advice by emailing legal@imperial.ac.uk where it will be allocated to the lawyer with the best knowledge and/or availability to advise, to support a quick turnaround.
The scheme of allocation is:
